  2. Thank you for using the SPLC's Test Your Knowledge of the First Amendment. You answered 27 of 30 questions correctly.

Now that you're done, let's see how your score stacks up:

0 to 15 correct: Hmmm.... Perhaps you thought this was going to be a test on the Second Amendment? Anyway, we hope you've learned a few things today and are inspired to find out more about our first freedom. The Freedom Forum's First Amendment Center is good place to start.

16 to 20: Well the good news is that you don't need to pass a test or obtain a license to use the First Amendment. Still, we hope you'll spend a bit more time looking into the First Amendment's essential freedoms and how they apply. C'mon -- it's only 45 words!

21 to 24: You're on your way. Before you make plans for law school, however, how about a nifty "cheat sheet" for your wall? Download a free First Amendment Poster.

24 to 27: Now we're talking! A genuine First Amendment Freedom Fighter in the making.

28 and above: Outstanding! James Madison and Company would be very proud. CENSORS BEWARE!

I was surprised I knew as much as I did. However, there were a few questions I had to take time to think about before answering. For there were some freedoms that I did not know pertained to the frist amendment.

I've always known a lot about the Bill Of Rights so I was actually hoping to get more right, however, the ones I did get wrong really helped me open my eyes to some of the issues out their and why so many problems do arise, things can tend to get a little tricky if you don't know your own rights or the rights of others.

  4. I scored 18/30 on the quiz. I was equally surprised by the answers I knew and the ones I got wrong. I guess I did absorb something from the years of social studies classes I took before coming to UT.

I was reassured that I knew the first 10 amendments are called The Bill of Rights but I was surprised I remembered how the first amendment is worded. The questions concerning specific situations made me question my rights in ways I never considered so it was interesting for me to put my knowledge to the test.

Essentially I’m glad I took that quiz. It opened my eyes up to a lot of information I should have known. Considering how important it is to know the legal rights you have in the country you live in, it disgusts me how ignorant I am and comfortable I feel not knowing my rights.

  5. 20/30... I really don't know as much as i thought i did. I guess i never really paid too close attention to the first amendment and everything in it. That's probably no good i should do better especially if this stuff is going to be on the final. I liked the examples they used for some of the questions, they were funny. Better luck next time!

  6. Being an international student, this was a tricky one for me as I have a general knowledge of the Amendment but not an in depht perception of it. I failed miserably at most of the questions but it was helpful to get a full explanation to understand what exactly each thing meant.

Total score- 19/30! Not so good.

Before taking the quiz, I was confident that I would know pretty much every question, but I was surprised when I was unsure about a lot of my answers. I remember learning basic stuff in school when I was younger, but I guess I never really took in the info when applying it to certain situations. I think it is impressive that to become a US citizen, people have to know more about our country than most native born citizens know. It's actually kind of pathetic. I need to brush up on my US facts for sure.

  8. Well, I did worse than I expected! I scored 18 out of 30 on the test and I'm suprised because I went over the amendments in high school. I thought I knew the gist of the first amendment but apparently there is a lot more to it! I especially did not know the part about burning the American flag. I thought that was illegal but government officials have to look at it as "constitutional." There is a good amount of information I wasn't aware of regarding press and what is protected by the First Amendment and what is not. It was interesting taking this test because I wondered how I would do!

I know the basic fundamentals of the bill of rights. There were a few of the more specific questions that I was unsure of but none of the answers came as much of a surprise.

  10. I got between 21-24 You're on your way. Before you make plans for law school, however, how about a nifty "cheat sheet."

There were a suprizing number of difficult questions, many that could be two answers, but once revealed, the answers all made sense. I seem to understand them in general, but need to brush up on them if I wish to be a true First Amendment scholar

I was a little shocked on some of the questions I really thought I knew, but all in all most of the questions I knew from previous teachings.

  12. 20/30... Guess I didn't pass with flying colors. I found the test informative and fun as anything interactive will grab my attention. The instant gratification, or lack of, is also really nice so you can see where you went wrong and the justification for the answers. Even though a lot of the questions i missed were "pick the best answer" format at least I got to see why my choice wasn't the best answer.

  13. My score was 25 out of 30. Some of the questions seemed vague and redundant, but it would be easy to get deep in the legal wilderness with more specific scenarios in the quiz. Several times the fact that privacy is not protected by the 1st Amendment came up.

  14. I recieved a 21/30

Some of the questions were pretty difficult, however also the answers were sometimes surprising, the 1st amendment is responsible for a lot of the rights we have and also break sometimes. it is interesting to see what i did and didnt know about my own rights as a citizen of the U.S.
