A new commuter parking lot is now open this week for 68 additional commuter spots. Located by the old Valencia restaurant, a new paved area is going to offer more parking; which has been a growing problem on UT campus. Students have offered complaints about its location being so far from many of the academic buildings, and that it is a slightly unsafe looking area.
“Now that I commute it’s so stressful trying to find parking during the middle of the day, especially a convenient one near my classes,” said junior CJ Makabali.
University of Tampa is increasing its enrollment by hundreds of students each year, also new additions to housing has made the campus very crowded in the past few years. Parking will remain a lingering issue for UT’s campus; however the Valencia parking lot is going to aid in this for the short term.
