Victorino's Injury Scares Philly Fans

Don’t worry Philly fans, star center fielder Shane Victorino will be in the lineup for game 6 in the World Series at Yankees Stadium.

During Monday night’s game, Victorino was hit by a wild pitch that hit his right index finger during game 5 by New York Yankees right hand pitcher A.J. Burnett. Although many Phillies fans we’re unsure whether or not the Flyin’ Hawaiian would be playing in game 6. Their worries quickly went away after hearing Manager Charlie Manuel assure reporters that Shane was fine.

Although Victorino was hit by the pitch during the first inning, he remained in the game till the eighth. When taken out he received x-rays on his finger and results showed no signs of an injury. Once Victorino found out the x-rays we’re negative, he assured Manuel that he was fine and that he would be ready to play in game 6 against New York.

Manuel took Victorino’s word for it and relayed the message to reporters. Manuel said, “He can move his finger and the swelling has gone down. If I see that Victorino is showing any signs of pain or that he is unable to play up to his full potential, I will have no problem pulling him out of the game.”

To see Victorino and the rest of the Philadelphia Phillies take on the New York Yankees in game 6 tune into Fox tonight at 8 p.m.
