With final exams around the corner, and the stress of holiday shopping slowly creeping up, it is hard to stay stress free. There are, however, some foods you can snack on that help to relieve stress.
1. Oatmeal- the vitamin B in oatmeal produces serotonin which sends signals to your brain to sooth your body and mind.
2.Fish- smoked salmon and tuna fish have omega fatty acids that help to suppress anxiety.
3. Chocolate- this one is sure to put a smile on your face. Studies show that snacking on dark chocolate triggers neurochemicals in your brain that make you feel happy and calm.
4. Oranges- whenever you feel a cold coming on, you are told to drink your OJ. But drinking orange juice also helps reduce stresses on your immune system which fights off colds because even the slightest amount of stress makes you more susceptible to illness.
5. Spinach- the magnesium in spinach helps to keep your blood pressure from spiking, keeping your whole body much more relaxed.
Of course, snacking on these foods will not have the same effect as a weekend at the spa or a 1 hour massage, but they are sure to help lighten your stress levels during the upcoming holiday seasons!
