Campus Life Blog#3 - Greek Variety Show

On November 5th 2009, UT's Greeks came together to host the annual 'Greek Variety Show' formerly known as 'Greek Sing'. This is an event where all the Greeks perform a dance/song routine and compete against each other for points and the title of the Winner. Generally only the Panhellenic sororities and IFC [Inter-fraternity Council] fraternities perform during this event, however this year the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement along with IFC, NPHC [National Panhellenic Council] and Panhellenic have taken an initiative to change the stereotypical perceptions of Greeks on a college campus. Hence they decided to change it up and asked everyone to perform at the event.

The event started off with a stroll by the staff and faculty to show the unity between all the councils. Then the Panhellenic sororities performed various strolls for roll call - these strolls were choreographed by the different NPHC sororities. Another change that was brought on this year was that the fraternities and sororities paired up and performed together rather than separately. This was even bigger and better and more entertaining! There was a showing of about 400-500 students and they thoroughly enjoyed the show.

The results were:-
1st place - Sigma Alpha Iota, Alpha Psi Omega & Phi Mu Alpha
2nd place - Delta Zeta & Theta Chi
3rd place - Alpha Chi Omega & Delta Tau Delta
