Tonight in Cleveland, the Washington Wizards faced the Cleveland Cavaliers in an exciting tension filled basketball game. These two teams have previous history as they faced each other in the first round of the playoffs in the 2006 and 2007 post season, with the Wizards losing to them each time.
With Gilbert Arenas healthy this season, it would be the first time Gilbert would face his rival Lebron James since a controversial end to the 2007 playoffs when Lebron James whispered something in Gil’s ear while on the free throw line causing him to miss both shots, losing the game in overtime.
The Wizards came out strong tonight scoring 31 in the first quarter while Cleveland was only able to score 17. The Wizards were able to maintain their lead until the 3rd quarter when Cleveland had a 10-0 run, and keeping that momentum throughout the rest of the game. The addition of Shaquille O’Neal made the Cavaliers already strong inside game that much tougher against the Wizards, giving them an unrivaled edge in the paint.
With the Cavaliers win it puts their team record to 3-2 while the Wizards are one game behind at 2-2. Gilbert Arenas scored 22 points for 38 minutes, while Lebron scored 27 points for 36 minutes. The Wizards will play the Cavaliers again on November 18th in Washington.
