Midnight Sun-Murrhee

Since Mr. Humphrey made it abundantly clear on Wednesday's, April 8 class, that we are to stick to a particular topic, I am going to try my very damnedest to stick on a certain topic of discourse. My previous post was about the Volvo S60 but I made mention of Twilight, so I think I will now head on that topic of discourse.

I will start off by saying a few things that will destroy most of your presumptions about this post right away. I did not see Twilight after reading the books but rather before. I did not go and see Twilight on its opening night but rather after it had been in theaters for almost two months (why not? was my theory at that point). My attraction to the story was because of the romance within its plot, not because of the actor Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner. After seeing the movie, I went out and bought New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn (the rest of the books in the Twilight Saga). Once I finished reading those three books, I went back and read Twilight (the premiss of the movie is the same, the timeline is just switched to make filming more convinent and some characters are not depicted the same as in the book).

With all of that said, I would like to point out that I am not obsessed when it comes to Twilight, I am merely interested. So interested in fact that I am totally stoked for Stephenie Meyer to release Midnight Sun, a telling of Twilight through the eyes of the lead, male-role, Edward. Meyer has chapters one through nine on her page. With the second paragraph of the book reading, "...If there was any way to atone for my sins, this ought to count toward the tally in some measure. The tedium was not something I grew use to; every day seemed more impossibly monotonous than the last," I am confident in saying the book's first 264 pages have been pleasurable and thought provoking. Bring on the release-date!

  1. You should get a gold star for all those hyperlinks. That really is a key strength of blogs -- the ability to steer readers to more info. -Jhumphrey
